Nafplio was the first capital of Greece after the war if independence waged against the Turkish occupiers between 1821 and 1832. It was the capital from 1823 and remained so until 1834 when the capital was transferred to Athens. No trip to Greece would be complete without a visit to this town. There's lots to see and do there, and you never know what's behind the next corner in the old medieval town.
